Have singing lessons helped you to grow in other ways? (Personally, Socially or Academically?)
Singing has definitely helped me socially. I’m able to talk to people with more ease and less awkwardness. It has also helped me academically and personally because now I’m able to ask more questions in school and feel less afraid about what other people might think.
What do you love the most about singing and/or lessons?
What I love most about my singing lessons is the environment and my amazing voice teacher, Tara, who is always there for me even when I’m not at my best.
What are your future plans? Musical or otherwise? (IE College? Career interests?)
My future plans are to go to medical school to become a surgical dermatologist. I want to dedicate my life to helping people feel better about themselves. But don’t worry, I won’t give up my singing. :)
Anything else fun, special or awesome you would like to share?
This past February I had the wonderful experience of singing in an all women’s choir at Carnegie Hall in New York. I met girls from all over the United States and even some from different countries. I also got the chance to have a free little voice lesson with a world renowned conductor, Dr. Lynne Gackle.
Meet Giselle Fox, our Featured Hummingbird for the month of December! Giselle is considered our Original Hummingbird as she started taking lessons with Miss Tara at her home! She was also chosen to sing in the National Honors Women's Choir at Carnegie Hall in February 2018. Read on below to get to know her:
Your Full Name: Giselle Elise Fox
What year are you in school? I’m in my junior year of high school.
Other interests/instruments/Performing/Sports (besides Singing):
I like to play guitar, make wire wrapped jewelry, and to paint with watercolor.
When and why did you start taking singing lessons?
I started taking voice lessons when I was in 6th grade. I wanted to take them because it was an opportunity to pry myself out of my shell and to help myself gain a little more confidence.
How do you think singing lessons at the Hummingbird Conservatory have helped you to grow musically or in your performing?
Singing lessons at the Hummingbird have helped me grow by allowing me to get up in front of people and not feel shy or have stage fright. It has also really improved my voice, making my voice sound like me and not someone else.
